SG.GS Appoints Ben Cooper as SVP, Global Network Strategy & Pacific Region

SYDNEY, Australia, Thursday 15 January 2026
Global wholesale carrier SG.GS has appointed Ben Cooper as Senior Vice President, Global Network Strategy & Pacific Region to lead the company’s strategic growth across Australia and the Pacific. The move follows SG.GS’ service expansions in North America and Eastern Europe and signals a major investment in Southern Hemisphere connectivity.
Cooper joins SG.GS from Cambridge Management Consulting, where he served as APAC Partner. With over 15 years of experience in telecommunications and network architecture, he previously co-founded OneQode, leading the development of the Guam low-latency hub and establishing one of APAC’s lowest-latency telco backbones.
“I’m thrilled to join SG.GS at such a high-growth moment,” Cooper says. “The company’s agility allows us to innovate and deploy infrastructure at a pace that larger carriers can’t match. I look forward to leveraging our local expertise to scale our Southern Hemisphere operations and deliver high-performance, commercially driven solutions for our global partners.”
“Ben’s deep expertise in Asia-Pacific architecture is a critical asset as we expand our Australian footprint,” adds Shawn Ang, Managing Director of SG.GS. “His background in building high-performance backbones enables us to move toward full SG.GS technical deployments across the southern hemisphere, offering our global clients deeper and more reliable reach into these high-growth corridors.”
Expanding Australia’s Connectivity Backbone
SG.GS has been operational in Australia for several years, and this leadership appointment marks a commitment to expanding its presence in this growing market. The carrier’s Australian network is fully operational with Points of Presence in Sydney and Perth, providing redundant high-capacity routes back to Singapore, Tokyo, Jakarta, Guam, and the wider APAC region.
Under Ben’s’s leadership, SG.GS will now accelerate the evolution of its Australian network from a regional access platform into a fully integrated Southern Hemisphere backbone.
Ben will represent SG.GS at major industry events throughout 2026, including PTC ’26, focusing on regional connectivity trends and infrastructure efficiency.
